JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND EXPECTATIONS
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides non-teaching services under the general supervision of certified personnel
ESSENTIAL TASKS (These are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work performed. The omission of specific duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment to the position.)

Supervises students & performs such other services as supporting teaching duties when such services are determined and supervised by a teacher;

Works with individuals or small groups to review progress in remedial reading or mathematics comprehension;

Attends to physical care tasks and health-related activities as appropriate, including but not limited to:

Lifts, moves, and operates adaptive equipment. Lifts and rotates students as necessary. Assists students with personal care tasks, including but not limited to, lavatory, clothing, hygiene, diapering, toileting, and wash-up routines;

Escorts students as assigned by teacher or administrator. Assists students with mobility needs such as, lifting and positioning students, lifting in and out of wheelchairs; loading and unloading on the bus; transporting students in and around the school and on field trips;

Assists student on playground (including lifting student into adaptive swing or climbing equipment);

Helps student change into swimwear and get in out of pool areas;

Assist child in PE and other Specials;

Attends to children in case of evacuation (ability to lift and scoop, lift out window)

Assists students with behavioral/management needs including but not limited to implementing behavioral plans, employing de-escalation strategies, engaging in physical restraints;

Assists in proctoring and other tasks related to the administration of examinations;

Assists with study hall, corridor, lunchroom, & other monitoring duties;

Assists in correcting test papers, recording of grades, maintaining of files and preparing of statistical reports;

Able to fulfill physical condition suitable to the demands of the position

Performs other related duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Significant standing; some walking, moving, climbing, carrying, bending, kneeling, crawling, reaching, handling, pushing, and pulling. Must have the ability to lift 60 lbs. Must pass written and physical Therapeutic Crisis Intervention Strategies (TCIS) tests and maintain TCIS certification.
