SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHING ASSISTANT
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND EXPECTATIONS
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides instructional services under the supervision of a teacher.
ESSENTIAL TASKS (These are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work performed. The omission of specific duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment to the position.)

Works with individual students or groups of students on special instructional projects;

Provides the teacher with information about students which will assist the teacher in the development of appropriate learning and behavioral experiences;

Assists students in the use of available instructional resources, and assists in the development of instructional materials;

Assists in related instructional work as required;

Utilizes their own special skills and abilities by assisting in instructional programs in such areas as: foreign language, art, crafts, music and similar subjects

Assists in related instructional work as required; and
-
Assists students with specific health related activities as appropriate.

Assists students with behavioral/management needs including but not limited to implementing behavioral plans, employing de-escalation strategies, engaging in physical restraints;

Assists in proctoring and other tasks related to the administration of examinations;

Assists in correcting test papers, recording of grades, maintaining of files and preparing of statistical reports;

Assists as needed with general supervision/monitoring of students, health care, behavioral work

Able to fulfill physical condition suitable to the demands of the position;

Performs other related duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Significant standing; some walking, moving, climbing, carrying, bending, kneeling, crawling, reaching, handling, pushing, and pulling. Must have the ability to lift 60 lbs.
